Join us on Zoom with Joan Nathan and hear about her latest cookbook: A Memoir, My Life in Recipes: Food, Family, Memories, A new cookbook...that uses recipes to look back at her life, her family history, and her personal journey discovering Jewish cuisine from around the world....This is a treasury of recipes and stories--and an invitation to a seat at Joan's table.
Joan has been writing about Jewish cooking for over 40 years, perhaps actually creating the first Jewish Cuisine cookbook category on bookshelves. Her story-telling about Jewish cuisine and the wider Middle East foods, about culture, and customs from around the world, is informative and captivating. Joan is known for baking the many traditional Jewish sweets and breads, about which of course, our Bakers Dozen has about a dozen questions!

Rosemary Mark remembers the day her kindergarten teacher said, “Rosemary, today you need to play somewhere other than the kitchen or the grocery store.” But she didn’t know where else to play! After studying Home Economics and Food Science at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, California, she created a career developing recipes and new food products for national brand food companies. She now spends most of her time playing with the science of wild yeast water breads, and baking anything else as often as possible. See her yeast water bread recipes and more at www.reciperose.com
Maralyn Tabatsky comes from a baking family; she was lucky to have a mother who also taught home economics. At age 11, she made her first chocolate cake (from scratch, of course), in heart-shaped pans, for her mother’s birthday. Unfortunately, she chose to make blue icing, which her family was reluctant to eat. Lesson learned! After teaching special ed for many years, she started her own kosher custom cake and dessert business, called Have Your Cake. Now retired, she actually has more time to bake challah and try out new recipes.
